PRIVATE EYE – THE FIRST 50 YEARS

For 50 years cartoonists have been entertaining the nation, in the pages of Private Eye, with their deft wit and energetic draughtsmanship. This anniversary exhibition, displaying over 180 works, bears witness to the vigour and range of the cartoonists’ art, which has formed the visual backbone of this highly irreverent, often controversial fortnightly satirical magazine.

This exhibition is launched to coincide with the commemorative display hosted at the V&A and the publication of the new book Private Eye: The First 50 Years written by Adam MacQueen and published by Private Eye Productions Ltd. This impressive and comprehensive, hard back, full-colour book, with 311 pages, is available to buy from the gallery for £25 plus p+p (£5 UK, £15 Europe, £27 Rest of the World).
