PRELIMINARY DRAWING FOR 'STOPHAM BRIDGE' EXHIBITED AT THE ROYAL SOCIETY OF PAINTERS IN WATER-COLOURS, AUTUMN 1961, NO 125, AND 'STOPHAM BRIDGE FROM THE NORTH-WEST, AUTUMN', EXHIBITED AT PETWORTH FESTIVAL OF MUSIC AND ART, 1980'

'BADMIN REMEMBERS DOING MUCH OF THE WORK ON THE SPOT IN THE MONTH OF OCTOBER, AND RECALLS IN PARTICULAR STANDING ON TOP OF AN OLD DRAIN COVER AND DODGING THE TRAFFIC. HE SKETCHED THE OUTLINE IN SOME DETAIL IN PENCIL AND ADDED A BIT OF COLOUR: 'I DID A FEW COLOUR NOTES, PICKING OUT A FEW STONES AND MADE A NOTE OF THE GENERAL TONE THROUGHOUT.'
