On 11 April 1849, Edward Lear and Franklin Lushington produced the present drawing, showing the mountains surrounding Thebes. The outline is very similar to a composition by Lear in the Houghton Library (11 April 1849 (156)), on which he notated a tune played by a shepherd on a bugle.
