The journalist, D B Wyndham-Lewis (1891-1969), contributed to Lilliput, the small-format monthly magazine, between 1937 and 1950, initially under the pseudonym, ‘Timothy Shy’. In his article, ‘Dubber, je vous aime’, he celebrated ‘the art of the dubber’, ‘the chap who provides the English sub-titles for a foreign film, or vice versa’ (Lilliput, September 1944, page 213).
