State Secret (Sidney Gilliat, UK, 1950) was released in the United States under the title, The Great Manhunt. Vacationing in a Balkan state, suggestive of Yugoslavia, Dr John Marlowe (Fairbanks Jnr) is pressured by the head of the Secret Service (Hawkins) into operating on the Tito-like Generalisimo. When the dictator dies, Marlowe flees. In the same year, a very similar film, entitled Crisis, was released; set in South America it had a Peron-like dictator.
