Known internationally as The Little Kidnappers, The Kidnappers (Philip Leacock, UK, 1953) concerns two boys (Jon Whiteley and Vincent Winter) living with their grandfather on his primitive homestead in Nova Scotia. Forbidden by their grandfather to have a dog, the boys 'kidnap' and care for an unattended baby girl (played by a boy, Anthony Michael Heathcoat) in a lean-to shack. Both Whiteley and Winter were presented with honorary Juvenile Acting Oscars for the performances.
