WATERCOLOUR WITH PEN AND INK
11 X 15 3/4 INCHES
PROVENANCE: THE ESTATE OF RANDOLPH SCHWABE
EXHIBITED: 'RANDOLPH SCHWABE. ARTIST, TEACHER, DIARIST', 9-27 FEBRUARY 2016
Schwabe was in Charing, Kent, between 21 August and 12 September 1931. However, two days after his arrival, he broke his left arm 'falling off the back of Hugh's [Jones] motorcycle coming back from Ashford just near the house' (Diary), and had to spend a night in Ashford Hospital. The present work testifies that, with his right arm intact, he was still able to draw.
