Douglas (Thomas Douglas England) (1891-1971)
Born and educated in London, Douglas worked in a City bank prior to serving in the First World War. He then lived for a short time in East Africa, before returning to London in the mid 1920s to study at the Royal Academy Schools and work as a commercial artist. He is best known for the quiet humour of the vignette cartoons that appeared regularly in Punch during the 1940s and 1950s.
