On a wooden base measuring 3 3/4 x 4 1/4 x 3/4 inches

This is the maquette for the life size version of Richard III sited outside Leicester Cathedral. It was installed in 1980 in the Castle Gardens but refurbished and moved to its current place in 2014. James Butler completed considerable research prior to completing the sculpture, visiting the site of the Battle of Bosworth and also the Wallace Collection to study contemporary armour.
