In 1956 Badmin went on a commissioned sketching tour. 'We went up the valley, trying to get a different view of Stirling Castle, and the farm was at the end of the road in whitewashed stone and around here and there were about six little haystcks'. Another watercolour with the farmhouse in the foreground is illustrated in Chris Beetles, S R Badmin and the English Landscape, London: Collins, 1985, page 105.
