"This was the view from my seat in the Upper Mound Stand at Lord’s the day I watched England win the Cricket World Cup for the first time. One of the most extraordinary days cricket I have ever experienced, either on and off the field! It was like travelling the worlds highest roller coaster of emotion but I wouldn’t have missed it for the world. I managed to make a few small rough sketches and notes during the final deliveries of the match before rushing back to my studio to paint the momentous moment while the atmosphere and colours were still fresh in my mind. Arguably one of the greatest days in the history of English cricket."
