'With this view, it was from my daughter’s friends house. Her little brother, a very sweet young boy, said ‘would you like to paint the view from my bedroom?’ So I did, I went for a few days and and the cherry blossom was really lovely. It was always particularly good on Lonsdale Square. I used to go into the square and paint the cherry blossoms, and so it was nice to have a different angle.
We got to know all the other kids who lived in the square. I knew everyone who lived there, we were there for 20 years, and looking at it now you remember all the people you know who lived in those houses.’
