'I know this square really well because there's actually a part of the Slade there. When I was at the Slade a building was taken over by the Courtauld. For a time the whole collection of the Courtauld was in that building in Woburn Square. We used to go and see it all the time. I always remember that Noel Foster, he was an abstract artist and tutor, he said, “Would you like to come and show me your favourite painting in the collection?” I thought that was such a sweet thing. And his favourite was the Gaugin, I remember. Anyway, so I really like that square. I love the little hut. This was my first ever attempt to do a ground covered in autumn leaf. So I was really pleased with how it turned out.'
