'WORK ON THE FARM IN LATE SUMMER
Cutting, stooking and ricking the corn, thatching ricks, for which the straw is first wetted to make it pliable, and repairing the farm implements, among which a two-share plough and disk-harrow can be seen, are among the varied activities of the season. On this farm the dairy herd consists of Guernsey cows, famous for their milk yield.'
