Premiering in July 1965, Help! was the second film
starring the Beatles playing fictionalised versions of
themselves, following the 1964 film, A Hard Day’s Night. The film follows the band trying to protect Ringo Starr from a sinister ‘Thuggee’-like cult and a pair of mad scientists, all of whom are trying to obtain a sacrificial ring sent to him by a fan. Ffolkes’s image portrays the Beatles alongside Leo McKern as Clang, chief priest of the cult.
