'In the afternoon drew a model, Tiger King, the Aran Islander, who was in Flaherty's film, "Man of Aran". He complained that they were made to talk stage Irish, such as no one ever talks on Aran ... and some facts about life on the Islands were misrepresented for the sake of the stage effect. He is a fine-looking fellow, a Galway man by descent, over six feet high. Has been a blacksmith among other things. I drew him in Corfiato's cap and gown, for my illustrations' (Schwabe's diary, Saturday 7 March 1936)
