When Anthony Green died on Valentine’s Day three years ago on the opening night of his last exhibition, he left an emotional void amongst family and friends who had always enjoyed the embrace of his special persona, but there also remains a significant gap in the contemporary art world.
This exhibition, taken from his well-curated studio and representing all periods of his long and successful working life, seeks to fill that hiatus with joy and celebration.
The narrative of his life and his enduring love of his wife and home was his art. This was expressed in strong, bright, optimistic colours, often incorporated into inventive shapes and constructions. This art reflected his affectionate, extrovert manner. He was loved and admired by generations of pupils and clients who were captivated by his art and warmed by his personality.
