Andy Davey (born 1956)

Andy Davey is a cartoonist, illustrator and painter, whose political cartoons have appeared in a number of national newspapers and high profile magazines.

Andy Davey was born in London on 21 March 1956. Though he initially began a career as a research chemist, he gave up to become a full-time cartoonist in 1993. His work has appeared in many newspapers and magazines, including the
Guardian, The Times, the Independent, The Scotsman, Private Eye, Punch, The Spectator and The New Statesman. Andy also produced a weekly ‘profile’ caricature for the Sunday Telegraph, and between 2008 and 2013, he was editorial cartoonist at the Sun. He has worked on a number of television programmes, such as the satirical series ‘2DTV’, as well as covering political events for Channel 5 and Sky News.

Between 2006 and 2012, Andy Davey was the chairman of the Professional Cartoonists’ Organisation. He lives in Cambridge.
