'This was actually from the roof of Heatherley’s, they’ve got a fantastic roof up there but it’s changed over the years. Heatherley’s moved premises about fifteen years ago maybe, and it had this fantastic view of the gasometers. I painted a bigger one of the gasometers, but the gasometer was fully down, and it was summer, I was teaching. I used to do this summer course, and for one or two days we would go up on the roof and paint the view. And so it's looking west, in Chelsea. Now it's completely different because they've got rid of the gasometers and built flats. I quite like that tower block in the middle, because that’s a typical London block of flats.'
